| Abstract | The survey was conducted based on a nationally representative sample that provided estimates at the national and regional levels and for urban and rural areas. Detail information was collected on respondents' health equity stratifiers (back ground characteristic determinants), maternal health care that includes family planning and ANC, childhood vaccinations, childhood major diseases, and access to improved water source\sanitation facility and resources. One hundred seventeen Zonal/Sub- cities' woredas' health departments were also assessed to collect health facilities resource and core health workers data. In addition, qualitative interviews were conducted with health bureau heads, and Ministry of Health. The health sector has designed national health equity strategy to address health equity in Ethiopia. TO monitor regularly and address health equity strategies and program implementations, therefore, it is important to conduct health equity survey regularly to know the current status and to improve evidence based decision making in the country. So, this NHES is crucial to identify where inequalities exist, to design and implement equity-oriented interventions to ensure that no one is left behind, and to establish effective and continuous equity-monitoring systems for tracking health equity strategy and program performance towards national and international targets, and health equity at all levels |
