Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted economic activities and livelihoods all around the world. Despite increasing levels of vaccination, the coronavirus continues to spread, with an unprecedented impact on people’s lives. Ethiopia is no exception; COVID-19 has upended livelihoods in Ethiopia, with significant implications for poverty reduction. Description

Risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) is an essential component of health emergency readiness and response activities. According to the joint directions of WHO, UNICEF and Red-cross “A clear and integrated Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) strategy and response are vital for individual, family, and community uptake of essential public health and biomedical interventions to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19” (WHO 2020; UNICEF 2020). The availability of reliable information sources on evolving pandemics, such as COVID-19, may embody certain attributes that encourage compliance with recommended adaptive behavior. Evidence suggests that lack of data or information generally drives unpreparedness to contain deadly diseases and discourages positive attributes for behavior change.

The health system and reproductive health research directorate & in collaboration with the integrated Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) section, PHEM, wants to assess COVID-19 risk perceptions and individual behavioral responses in Ethiopia. It is a community & facility-based survey and will be undertaken on a representative sample of households across the country. The Ethiopian Public Health Institute, therefore, would like to hire competent applicants for two months in the following positions.
