| Abstract | Addis Ababa Food, Medicine and Healthcare Administration and Control Authority have been established in 2004 E.C. Currently, it has fully strengthened its system from region down to woreda level and extended its scope by encompassing hygiene and sanitation, regulation of food and drink establishments, health institutions and health-related industries or manufacturers and health-related organizations providing service to the customer. The authority is mandated to regulate private and public health institutions. In Addis Ababa, there are many foods, drink, health, and health-related establishments such as star-rated hotels, basic hotels, restaurants, bars, groceries, cafes, coffee houses, cultural restaurants, and food, drink, and beverage manufacturing, health institution, health, and health-related facilities, However, they are not numerically known by their category, status, and distribution in the administrative structure of sub-city and woreda level. The assessment aimed to assess the numbers, status, and distribution of all food, drink, health-related organizations, manufacturing industries, health institutions, pharmaceuticals, traditional medicine, and health professionals in Addis Ababa The assessment was a cross-sectional census of governmental and non-governmental food and drink establishment service providers, food and drink product manufacturing industries, health-related service providers, health-related product manufacturing industries, food, and health-related product distributors and wholesales, health institutions, traditional medicine/healers, and health professionals who worked in health institutions of Addis Ababa. Using 174 standards those were suitable to assess these facilities whether adhere to the pre-sated standard or not. A total of 1999 health institutions including traditional medicine were included in the assessment. Among them, 30% were community pharmacies, 21% were medium clinics, and 13% were community drug stores. The remaining 36% includes 44 types of facilities which include different types of specialty clinics, hospitals, health service centers, etc. A total of 1957 different types of health institutions (excluding traditional medicine) were assessed for their current status. Among these, 1488 (76%), 302(15%), and 167(9%) were in the green, yellowfin, and red status, respectively. About health professionals: A total of 8642 nurses, 1843 health officers, 1970 laboratory technologists/ technicians, 1661 pharmacists/ druggists, 970 general practitioners, and 1290 mid-wineries were assessed. Among the total health institutions (1105) ed for their waste management, 9 % of them scored below 50%, 20 % scored between 50% and 75%, and 71 % scored above 75%, of the standards. A total of 44373 Food and Drink Establishments, health-related organizations, and manufacturing industries were assessed. Among these 18557 were Food and Drink Establishment, 2251 were food industries, 7134 were health-related organizations, 87 were health’s related industries, and 16344 were whole sellers and retailers. |

| Description | This cross-sectional survey utilized 174 standards that were suitable to assess these facilities whether adhering to the pre-sated standard or not. Accordingly, the study dataset has included the following attributes under it. Regrading health institutions; the total number of institutions, total facility types per population, institution types by status, and distribution of health professionals. Finally, the study dataset includes information on the Distribution of Health-Related industries, the Status of the health-related industry, the Distribution and status of whole sellers and Retailers' institutions, the Number and status of whole sellers and the Number and status of retailers. |
