| Abstract | This Monitoring study was aimed to enable proactive interventions on the basis of the practices observed by individuals who could be exposed to the transmission of COVID-19 across 15 different cities. The study involves weekly monitoring of individual behaviors towards the preventive practice of COVID-19 in 15 major cities of Ethiopia. These cities are Addis Ababa, Adama, Jimma, Bahir-Dar, Gondar, Hawassa, Wolaita Sodo, Hosaena, Mekelle, Dire Dawa, Harar, Jigjiga, Gambella, Assosa, and Semera. In that regard, eight service sectors (hot-spot sites for mobility) were selected based on the level of crowding that implies the presence of high risk for the transmission of COVID-19. A repeated cross-sectional observation design was conducted on weekly basis involving one weekday and one weekend. The study population includes all individuals visiting the selected eight sites for different reasons. Participants of the study are individuals who are found at the selected hotspot sites at the time of assessment. There were10 randomly identified individuals per facility on each day of data collection. ODK (Open Data Kit) used and a mobile application to collect data with GPS of the site of observation. Moreover, the data deposited in a server was downloaded to be merged and analyzed using Excel and SPSS. In that regard, 1170 (1.5%) had all the three proper practices, 9001 (11.5%) had any of the two proper practices, 25190 (32.3%) had any one of proper practices, and 42833 (54.8%) had none of the practices. |
