Abstract

The anthropometry and retrospective Mortality survey was implemented in Hundene woreda. Standardized monitoring and assessment of relief and transitions (SMART) methodology was employed to determine the sample size in the implementation of an anthropometric and mortality survey. Children aged 6-59 months are the target population for anthropometric parts of the survey and 3788 children involved in the survey. In addition to the two survey tools, household, IYCF, and WASH questionnaires were administered to the households to get qualitative information. Focus group discussion was also done with the selected key informants from the community to complement the survey's findings. A two-stage cluster sampling method was used to collect data for Anthropometric and Retrospective Mortality surveys. The survey was carried out between April 24 and May 8, 2015. The findings of the current survey indicate that global acute malnutrition (GAM) was estimated at 6.4% [95% CI 4.6-8.8] while severe acute malnutrition (SAM) was estimated at 0.3% [95% CI 0.1-1.4].
