| Abstract | This monitoring study was conducted to enable proactive interventions on the basis of the practices observed by individuals who could be exposed to the transmission of COVID-19 across 15 different cities. The study involved weekly monitoring of individual behaviors towards the preventive practice of COVID-19 in 15 major cities of Ethiopia. The cities were Addis Ababa, Adama, Jimma, Bahir-Dar, Gondar, Hawassa, Wolaita Sodo, Hosaena, Mekelle, Dir Dawa, Harar, Jigjiga, Gambella, Assosa, and Semera. Eight service sectors (hot-spot sites for mobility) were selected based on the level of crowding that implies the presence of a high risk for the transmission of COVID-19. A repeated cross-sectional observation design was being conducted on weekly basis involving one weekday and one weekend. The study population included all individuals who were visiting the selected eight sites for different reasons. The study participants were individuals who were found at the selected hotspot sites at the time of assessment. There were 10 randomly identified individuals per facility on each day of data collection. ODK (Open Data Kit) and a mobile application were used to collect data with GPS of the site of observation. The data deposited in a server has been downloaded for merging and analysis using Excel and SPSS. 1,014 (1.7%) had all the three proper practices, 7,356 (12.2%) had any of the two proper practices, 19,671 (32.6%) had any one of the proper practices, and 32,259 (53.6%) had none of the three practices. |
