Abstract

The HRH Program conducted a situational assessment from June 11 to 19, 2012. Data were collected from selected HRH stakeholders to identify needs and priorities to strengthen HRH management, education, and regulation. Data collection methods included key informant interviews and secondary data review. Participants of the were purposefully selected managers/ representatives of governmental organizations, professional associations, and health science colleges. Semi-structured interview guides and checklists were used to collect information from key HRH stakeholder categories. Document review guides were used to extract information from secondary sources.HRH staff were oriented on objectives of the situational assessment, variables, and thematic areas, and they subsequently collected data using the tools in Annex 1. Finally, the data gathered were summarized and triangulated, and a final report compiled. The general objective of this rapid situational assessment is to describe and analyze the existing HRH situation in the country. It aimed at obtaining up-to-date information from key HRH stakeholders on the situation of human resources for health. The situational assessment data revealed that the human resource development and administration directorate was organized by development, administration, and registration/archive case teams.
